Multi-line modelling in nearby galaxies: The link between dense gas and star formation in different environments

چکیده

The J =1–0 lines of HCN and HCO + have become the default tracers dense molecular gas in external galaxies. To study relation between emission density, we mapped their =3–2 with ALMA Compact Array (ACA) nearby star-forming galaxies NGC3351, NGC3627, NGC4321. Combined archival line maps HCN(1–0), (1–0), CO(1–0), CO(2–1), use this data set to: (1) compare excitation normal starburst/AGN galaxies; (2) explore how ratios vary across galaxy disks; (3) infer density distribution other cloud properties on a pixel-by-pixel basis through physically-motivated radiative transfer model.

Dense Molecular Gas and Star Formation in Nearby Seyfert Galaxies

Abstract. An imaging survey of CO(1−0), HCN(1−0), and HCO(1−0) lines in the centers of nearby Seyfert galaxies has been conducted using the Nobeyama Millimeter Array and the RAINBOW interferometer. Preliminary results reveal that 3 Seyferts out of 7 show abnormally high HCN/CO and HCN/HCO ratios, which cannot occur even in nuclear starburst galaxies. We suggest that the enhanced HCN emission or...

Dense gas in nearby galaxies ?

The J = 3 − 2 sub-mm line of 12CO has been observed with the Heinrich-Hertz-Telescope (HHT) toward a sample of 28 nearby galaxies, and toward Arp 220. All sources are detected. This is the largest extragalactic sample of CO 3 − 2 spectra published so far. The 3 − 2 line fluxes, I32, are compared to 1 − 0 and 2 − 1 fluxes measured with the IRAM 30m telescope. Model calculations show that the I32...

Dense gas in nearby galaxies

CO J = 1–0, 2–1, 4–3, 7–6, and CO 1– 0, 2–1, and 3–2 line emission was mapped with angular resolutions of 13 – 22 toward the nuclear region of the archetypical starburst galaxy M82. There are two hotspots on either side of the dynamical center, with the south-western lobe being slightly more prominent. Lobe spacings are not identical for all transitions: For the submillimeter CO lines, the spac...

The Star Formation Rate-Dense Gas Relation in the Nuclei of Nearby Galaxies

We investigate the relationship between the star formation rate (SFR) and dense molecular gas mass in the nuclei of galaxies. To do this, we utilize the observed 850 mm luminosity as a proxy for the infrared luminosity ( ) and SFR, and we correlate this with the observed CO( ) luminosity. We find tentative evidence that L J p 3–2 IR the -CO( ) index is similar to the Kennicutt-Schmidt (KS) inde...

The Star Formation Rate and Dense Molecular Gas in Galaxies

HCN luminosity is a tracer of dense molecular gas, n(H2) > ∼3 × 10 cm, associated with star-forming giant molecular cloud (GMC) cores. We present the results and analysis of our survey of HCN emission from 65 infrared galaxies including 9 ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIGs, LIR > ∼10 L⊙), 22 luminous infrared galaxies (LIGs, 10 L⊙ < LIR < ∼10 L⊙) and 34 normal spiral galaxies with lower IR ...
